Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic is on the shortlist of targets Real Madrid could look to pursue this summer.

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba was their top target, but Real Madrid have backed out of the race because of the cost involved in any deal to sign the Frenchman, and he is now expected to join Manchester United in the coming days.

Juventus coach Zinedine Zidane remains keen to add a midfielder to their ranks during the summer, and has prepared a shortlist of players he is keen to pursue in the coming days.

And according to Spanish daily AS, Chelsea midfield enforcer Matic is one of the players Real Madrid are keeping a close watch on, with the intention to potentially make a move this summer.

Antonio Conte has made it clear that he is not keen to sell the Serbian and wants to provide an opportunity to Matic to become a mainstay in the Chelsea midfield again next season.
