Palmeiras winger Gabriel Jesus’ agent has revealed that his client is on the verge of joining Manchester City.

Manchester City have been chasing the signature of the 19-year-old winger over the last few weeks, and Pep Guardiola has already spoken with the player to convince him to move to the Etihad.

There has been speculation that Manchester United have contacted Palmeiras for Jesus and are ready to offer more money for the player to beat their city rivals to his signature.

However, it seems Manchester City have seen off interest from the Red Devils and are close to securing the signature of Brazilian winger in the coming days.

And while Cristiano Simoes, the player’s agent, insisted that the final agreement is still not in place, he admits that a deal is expected to be pushed over the line soon.

Simoes told Brazilian daily Lance when asked about Gabriel’s proposed move to the Etihad: “We are still taking about some final details, but it is close.

“I cannot give the details as we are still negotiating.”

Manchester City are set to pay a fee of around €32m for his signature this summer, but Gabriel will only join the club in January next year.
