Juventus have nudged up their offer for Everton target Axel Witsel to the €22m mark – but it is still €8m below the Toffees' proposal.

Witsel is expected to leave Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg this summer as he has just a year left on his contract and is keen to move on.

Everton have been leading the race for his signature and their offer is the most appealing to Zenit, but Witsel has been reluctant to commit to a move to Merseyside.

He favours Juventus, a fact the Bianconeri hope to use to their favour.

The Italian champions' initial bid for Witsel was between €18m and €20m, but according to Turin-based daily Tuttosport, Juventus' offer now stands at the €22m mark.

Juventus are reluctant to further increase their offer, especially as they are aware Witsel fancies a move to Turin.

Everton remain an option, but it appears Witsel would have to have a significant rethink in order to end up at Goodison Park this summer.
