Zenit St. Petersburg want Juventus to increase their offer for midfielder Axel Witsel by €3m to €25m.

The Russian giants received an offer of €30m from Premier League side Everton earlier this summer, but Witsel is holding out for a switch to the Italian champions.

But Juventus' current bid for the Belgium international stands at the €22m mark – not enough for Zenit to give the green light.

According to Russian outlet Sport.ru, Zenit want Juventus to up their offer to at least €25m in order for them to agree to sell Witsel.

The ball is now squarely in Juventus' court and the Italian giants are expected to continue talks with Zenit aimed at trying to find common ground.

It remains to be seen whether Everton still have any hope of signing Witsel or indeed whether the Toffees still want to complete a deal for the midfielder.

Zenit paid €40m to sign Witsel from Portuguese giants Benfica, activating the midfielder's release clause at the Estadio da Luz.
