Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez is to hold talks with Jonathan Calleri's agents, despite the striker already having an agreement in place to join West Ham United.

The Spanish giants are assessing a number of options as they look to sign a backup striker this summer, with their focus now switching to South America.

Gabriel Jesus and Gabigol are two possibilities, but Fernandez, who is in Rio, is also due to hold talks with Calleri's agents, according to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo.

Calleri has an agreement with West Ham, but the deal has not yet been finalised and it has been suggested the striker will stall the Hammers if there is any chance Barcelona could firm up their initial interest in him.

Barcelona had been keen on Luciano Vietto and Kevin Gameiro, but both those options are off the table, with the former joining Sevilla on loan and the latter moving to Atletico Madrid.

Calleri, 22, is currently on loan at Brazilian side Sao Paulo and has been tipped for big things.

Barcelona have a forward line of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar, but need to secure strength in depth ahead of the new season.

It remains to be seen if they do choose to try and hijack Calleri's proposed West Ham move however.
