Leeds United head coach Garry Monk is not worried about the reputation of club chairman Massimo Cellino, and has insisted that he has a good working relationship with the Italian.

Cellino is known for his lack of patience with managers, and Monk became the Italian’s seventh managerial appointment this summer, since he took over Leeds United in 2014.

Steve Evans was ushered away at the end of last season despite guiding the club to a mid-table finish, and many feel Monk could also struggle to survive if he doesn’t make an instant impact.

However, the 37-year-old stressed that he is not worried about what transpired at Elland Road in the past, and is unwilling to form an opinion on Cellino from his public reputation.

Monk insisted that the Cellino has been supportive since he took over the reins of the club, and admitted that he has a good working relationship with the Leeds chairman.

He said on BBC Radio 5 live: “From a personal point of view, I don’t focus on what has gone on in the past.

“I focus on what I can do, what I can bring to the football club, and that will always be the way, that’s how I perceive it.

“In terms of the chairman, he is fantastic. He is a very supportive guy and like I said I don’t judge anyone before I meet them.

“Hearing things from outside, I never form an opinion until I meet the person and that’s the best way to work.

“He has been very supportive towards me, he has let me get on with my job, and as it stands we have a very good working relationship.”

Monk has signed seven new faces this summer for Leeds, but Cellino is yet to truly spend big on any particular player to provide a fillip to the squad.
