Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge cannot believe the manner in which Bastian Schweinsteiger has been treated by Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese boss has decided that Schweinsteiger is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and has banished the experienced German midfielder to the reserves.

He has even had his locker in the dressing room moved to the reserve dressing room and Rummenigge is shocked by the developments surrounding the man Bayern Munich sold to Manchester United a year ago.

"When I read this, I could hardly believe it", Rummenigge was quoted as saying by Kicker, reacting to the reports of Schweinsteiger's banishing.

"At Bayern Munich it has never been [like this] and at Bayern Much there will never be the same [thing happening]", he added.

Schweinsteiger struggled for form and with injuries during his first season at Manchester United and has suffered from the club's decision to sack Louis van Gaal at the end of last season.

The midfielder has been offered around clubs in Italy by agents, but so far has no takers, with Juventus, Inter and Napoli all ruling out making a move for the 32-year-old.
