The draw for the playoff round of the Champions League has been held at UEFA headquarters and a number of thrilling ties are in prospect as the competition nears the group stage. 

Manchester City, who finished fourth in the Premier League last season and as such must navigate the playoff round to reach the group stage, will take on Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest.




Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers' Celtic, who saw off Kazakh outfit FC Astana in the third qualifying round, have been drawn to lock horns over two legs with Israeli outfit Hapoel Beer Sheeva.

Other standout ties include Danish giants FC Copenhagen playing Cypriot side APOEL, Dinamo Zagreb taking on Red Bull Salzburg, FC Porto locking horns with Roma and Ajax taking on Russian side Rostov.

Ties will be played over 16th and 17th August (first legs) and 23rd and 24th August (second legs).
