Moussa Sissoko says he does not expect to be at Newcastle United for the season, as he crosses his fingers for a transfer to happen soon.

The France international wants out at St. James' Park this summer following Newcastle's relegation from the Premier League and the Magpies are willing to allow him to leave, but only if their asking price is met.

Sissoko has been linked with a number of clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund – and he does not expect to be at Newcastle when the transfer window closes.

"Today, I do not see myself playing the season with Newcastle", he told So Foot.

"I resumed training on Monday. I am preparing with my own coach. I joined the squad slowly, hoping that the transfer will be soon", Sissoko added.

But even though the former Toulouse man is desperate to move on, he insists he will put thought into his next destination.

And Real Madrid, for example, could not expect Sissoko to simply sign anything they put in front of him.

"Real Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in the world, a dream", Sissoko admitted.

"But I am not going to sign without thinking. With everything, I take time to think. Real are a very big club, but you have to think and have no regrets."

Newcastle started their Championship campaign without Sissoko on Friday night as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage to Fulham.

Rafael Benitez's men will be keen to conclude Sissoko's future as soon as possible in order to stop it becoming a distraction.
