Liverpool and West Ham United have been given a boost in their interest in Martin Odegaard after Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane hinted the Norwegian should consider moving on to secure regular first team football.

17-year-old Odegaard, who was signed by Los Blancos last January from Norwegian club Stromsgodset, has made just a single senior team appearance for the Spanish giants since joining and a lack of action could prompt him to seek a move away from Real Madrid.

Odegaard has already been linked with Premier League duo West Ham and Liverpool this summer, while Bundesliga side Hamburg, who have signed Alen Halilovic from Barcelona, are also said to be keeping an eye on him.

Zidane thinks the midfielder needs to play regularly and has hinted that Odegaard should leave the club, saying that it is difficult for him to get playing time.

He was quoted as saying by beIN Sports:"Odegaard is at Madrid, has been doing pre-season with us and I am satisfied with him.

"But the idea we have for him is that he gets playing time and it is very difficult to get playing time at Madrid because we have a lot of players.

"That is my advice to him.

"We will make a decision that is best for him.

"Anything can happen until the end of the month."

The Norway international has made 49 appearances for Real Madrid Castilla, scoring twice, but has failed to live up to the hype that surrounded him during his days at Stromsgodset.
