Speculation linking Arsenal with a swoop for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been rubbished in Germany.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is chasing a world-class striker and has been claimed to be ready to break with habit by splashing the cash to land his man.

That man has been claimed in the English media to be Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski, with Wenger ready to break the bank to sign the Poland international.

But according to German daily TZ, a move for Lewandowski from Bayern Munich appears almost impossible in the current transfer window.

The Bavarians' CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was also clear just weeks ago that Lewandowski will not be leaving the Allianz Arena this summer.

Arsenal could still choose to test Bayern Munich's resolve with a bid for the prolific striker, but the German champions are one of the richest clubs in world football and have no need to cash in on the Pole.

Lewandowski only joined Bayern Munich in 2014 from Borussia Dortmund, but has already netted 67 goals in 100 appearances for the Bavarians in all competitions.
