Liam Bridcutt is in the process of tying up loose ends relating to his contract at Leeds United.

Earlier today it emerged that Bridcutt had reached a settlement with Sunderland over the remaining year of his lucrative contract at the Stadium of Light.

He is now free to join Leeds, with whom he spent the majority of last season on loan.

And the move is rapidly hurtling towards a conclusion as, according to Radio Yorkshire, Bridcutt is in the process of finalising his contract at Elland Road.

The midfielder could commit to Leeds until the summer of 2019.

Leeds have been working hard on securing Bridcutt this summer, but the move was held up by the player not wanting to write off the final year of his highly paid deal at Sunderland.

He missed all the Whites' pre-season preparations and has yet to work under new Leeds head coach Garry Monk.

It remains to be seen how quickly Leeds can finalise Bridcutt's arrival.
