Lyon are unlikely to select West Ham and Liverpool target Rachid Ghezzal in their squad as long as his future at the club is under the scanner.

The new Ligue 1 campaign is under way, and the first set of fixtures were played last night, with champions PSG opening with a 1-0 win over Bastia.

Lyon open their season tomorrow with an away trip to Nancy, but Ghezzal is unlikely to be included in the squad that will take to the pitch as his future at the club still needs to be resolved.

His contract with Lyon expires at the end of the season, and the winger is yet to sign a new deal, despite repeated requests from club president Jean-Michel Aulas.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the player won’t be playing any part in Lyon’s games this month as long as his future at the club remains under the scanner.
