Former Liverpool left-back Jim Beglin says that Alberto Moreno must break the habit of surging forward when possession for the Reds is not guaranteed.

Moreno turned in a shocking performance during Liverpool's 4-3 win away at Arsenal on Sunday, with his clumsy challenge giving away a penalty early on which Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet saved.

However, Theo Walcott got in to score soon afterwards after Moreno was caught out of position high up the pitch, allowing the Arsenal man to get in.

And the Gunners continued to target Liverpool's left-back position, where they saw Moreno as a weak link.

For Beglin, himself a former left-back, Moreno bursts forward far too often when it is not guaranteed Liverpool will have possession.

He wrote on Twitter: "Bursting forward without a guarantee of possession is a habit that Moreno has to break."

Moreno's performances defensively for Liverpool last season came in for consistent criticism.

But Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has yet to dip into the transfer market to replace the error-prone Spaniard.
