Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara’s agent has confirmed Aston Villa’s offer for the player, but has insisted that he is not playing a key role in negotiations.

The 19-year-old midfielder has courted serious interest this summer, and is said to be on his way out of Bologna, with a number of top clubs keen to snap him up this month.

Napoli and Roma have been keeping a close watch on Diawara, but in recent days Juventus have also shown an interest, with Diawara believed to be preferring a stay in Italy.

Despite relegation from the Premier League, Aston Villa have also tried their luck with the young midfielder and have slapped in a €17m offer to make their presence felt.

Daniele Paraino, the midfielder’s agent, admits Villa have indeed made an offer, but stressed that everything depends on Bologna, and he is playing a minimal role in the transfer saga.

On Villa’s offer, Paraino told Italian broadcaster Sportitalia: “It is true.

“But still nonetheless, it’s all about Bologna at the moment, I have nothing to do.”

Despite his tender years, Diawara was a key player for Bologna last season and has a contract until 2020 with the club.
