Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino has appeared to rubbish any suggestion the Whites are closing in on Zulte Waregem defender Bryan Verboom.

It had been claimed in Belgium that Leeds had thrashed out personal terms with Verboom and Zulte Waregem were simply waiting for the Championship club to seal the deal.

But Cellino has appeared to comprehensively deny that by claiming not to know who Verboom is.

Asked about Verboom by Radio Yorkshire, Cellino replied: "Who is he? Never heard of him."

It remains to be seen if Cellino was simply trying to throw the media off the scent or Verboom is not on the club's radar.

Leeds have recently added a full-back to the ranks by swooping to snap up right-back Luke Ayling from fellow Championship side Bristol City.

They are also closing in on the season-long loan signing of centre-back Pontus Jansson from Italian outfit Torino.

The Whites picked up their first point of the season earlier this week, securing a 1-1 draw at home against Fulham.
