Leeds United new boy Pontus Jansson admits that the presence of Pep Clotet at Elland Road played a key role behind his arrival at the club.

The 25-year-old Swede has joined Leeds on a season-long loan deal from Torino, with the Championship side having the option to make the move permanent at a later date.

Jansson worked under Clotet during their time together at Malmo and admits that he is again keen to join hands with the Leeds assistant, who he feels is a wonderful coach and person.

He also added that the presence of a familiar face in Clotet played a vital role in him joining Leeds as the Spaniard is aware of the kind of player he is from their time together at Malmo.

On Clotet, the defender told LUTV: “I worked with Pep at Malmo two or three years ago.

“He is a nice person and a nice coach, a really funny person too.

"It is real fun to see him again, and I will love to work with him again.”

On whether Clotet was pivotal behind his move to Leeds, Jansson said: “He is one of the reasons of course; I know the type of football he wants to play, and he also knows me as a player.”

Jansson could make his debut for Leeds when they travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
