Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about his dissatisfaction with the busy footballing schedule, which he believes is contributing to injuries.

Skipper Hugo Lloris was the latest casualty, with the French international picking up a hamstring injury in his very first league match of the season and is now set to be sidelined for about four weeks.

According to Lloris's manager, a large role in the injury has been played by the busy domestic and international schedule.

It is in fact next to impossible for a player to play in the final of Euro 2016 on July 10th and then come back to play in the Premier League within a month, Pochettino says.

"You cannot play the Euros and start [the Premier League] on August 13", the Argentine manager was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.

Pochettino could have rested Lloris, who played every match for France at Euro 2016, but the manager said that the real issue is how the bosses manage football and not how he handles his players.

"Should I have rested Hugo more? It would be better if we discussed how our bosses manage football. The problem is not the organisation of the competition. You cannot play the Euros and start on August 13."

"The decisions are always from people who have never played football.

"I agree with Diego Maradona sometimes when he complains about football: the people who take the decisions are people who never touch the football.

"It's true that it's a business but respect the athletes.

"Every four year you compete in the Olympic Games but in football it's every three days. It's very difficult.

"That's why it's important to organise the competition better in the future but, sometimes, you're speaking for the sake of it because who listens?"
