Everton have, as expected, lodged a bid for Napoli hitman Manolo Gabbiadini, as Ronald Koeman looks to increase his attacking options before the transfer window closes.

Gabbiadini has been linked with leaving Napoli this summer, but the situation now appears to have changed following the departure of Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus.

Everton have now tried their luck and according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, have put €25m on the table for the striker.

But it has been suggested that Napoli will only consider selling Gabbiadini if they are able to secure Juventus striker Simone Zaza, meaning Everton may have to wait until late into the window to get their man.

And in the meantime, Napoli are also discussing a new contract with Gabbiadini in the event he remains at the club.

In discussions between the two parties there is still some distance, but Napoli will be hopeful of bridging the gap if Gabbiadini stays.

Gabbiadini has been concerned at a lack of game time at Napoli.

He was restricted mostly to substitute appearances for the Azzurri last term as Higuain took centre stage.
