Valencia have called up Arsenal and Liverpool target Shkodran Mustafi to their squad for this evening's La Liga game against Las Palmas, something that indicates a transfer for the German is not close.

Arsenal have been making the running for Mustafi and are reported to have put a bid in for the defender, but Liverpool have also been thrown into the mix with talk that Luis Alberto could go to Valencia in part exchange.

But no deal for the centre-back appears close to being completed as he has been included in Valencia's squad for Monday night's La Liga match.

No doubt all eyes will be on Valencia coach Pako Ayestaran this evening to see whether he picks Mustafi in his starting eleven; a serious injury would end any prospect of a summer move.

Arsenal have been suffering under the weigh of a defensive injury crisis, ramping up the pressure on the Gunners to get Mustafi signed.

It has been claimed the defender has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League giants, but Arsenal must reach an agreement with Valencia for any deal to proceed.

Liverpool could yet choose to further firm up their interest, with Jurgen Klopp's side having conceded an astonishing five goals in just two Premier League games so far this season.
