Arsenal could make a move for Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic in the final stretch of the transfer window, but are expected to face disappointment in their chase for the Croatian.

Following the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain this summer, Mandzukic is not expected to be a certain starter for the Italian champions this season, leading to speculation surrounding his future.

Arsene Wenger has been in the market for a striker for months, but with little more than a week left in the window, the Frenchman is yet to add a forward to his Arsenal squad.

The Arsenal manager has been keeping tabs on Mandzukic’s situation at Juventus, and according to Tuttosport, he could make a move for the Croatian in the final stretch of the summer window.

The 30-year-old striker is not his first choice for the window, but with time running out, the situation could soon force Wenger to make a play for the Juventus man.

However, Juventus are in no mood to sell the player, and believe that despite the arrival of Higuain, Mandzukic remains an important member of Massimiliano Allegri’s squad.

The Croatian himself is unwilling to move and Arsenal could face one more setback if they signal their intent to sign the Juventus man in the coming week.

He has a contract until 2019 with the Italian champions.
