Aston Villa linked Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford only wants a move to a Premier League club this summer, according to the BBC.

Chelsea snapped up the young Englishman from Nottingham Forest in 2012, and the forward has had loan spells with clubs such as Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, and Norwich City.

The 22-year-old is unlikely to play many minutes at Chelsea this season, and could be on his way to another loan move in order to play more first team football to aid his development.

Aston Villa have been interested in snapping him up, but it has been claimed that the striker is not keen on a move to England’s second tier, scuppering Roberto Di Matteo’s hopes.

After tasting Premier League football with Palace and Norwich on loan last season, he only wants to join a top division club, and is expected to knock back offers from the Championship.

With only a few days left in the window, Chelsea are yet to find a taker for Bamford in the Premier League, where he will get regular minutes in order to develop.

It remains to be seen whether Bamford agrees to a move to the Championship towards the end of the window if he fails to secure a deal with a Premier League outfit.
