Southampton are stepping up on their interest in Juventus striker Simone Zaza, who is also being chased by West Ham.

Zaza’s future at Juventus has been subject to furious speculation, and he was on the cusp of joining Wolfsburg earlier this month, before the negotiations collapsed at the last minute.

The 23-year-old forward has attracted interest from Serie A clubs such as Napoli, and the player is believed to be keen to continue playing his football in Italy’s top division.

However, that hasn’t deterred Premier League clubs from trying their luck as Juventus would rather not sell within Italy, with suggestions that West Ham are set to press the accelerator in the chase for Zaza in the coming days.

But the Hammers could expect to face stiff competition from Southampton, as the south coast club are in the market for a striker and Zaza is one of their top targets.
