Chelsea starlet Ola Aina has insisted that he is open to playing as a left-back more often after his performance in his side's 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup last night.

The versatile defender, who progressed through Chelsea’s youth system, made his competitive first team debut for the Blues in the second round clash of the domestic cup competition against the League One outfit.

Aina can play anywhere in the back four, but the 19-year-old explained that he felt comfortable playing as a left-back at Stamford Bridge.

However, the youngster was quick to add that he also has no qualms about playing on the opposite side of the defence.

“I find it more comfortable playing left-back for the first team to be honest, I don’t know why, but I feel comfortable playing there and if I have to do a job, I feel comfortable playing there”, Aina told Chelsea TV.

“If I have to do a job as a right-back, I will probably feel the same, but this is okay.

"It is not difficult for me.”

Aina, who signed a new four-year deal with Chelsea earlier in the summer, is now contracted with the Blues until 2020.

He is yet to earn a senior cap for England, but has represented the nation up to Under-20 level.
