Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris admits that after last season he has no reason to leave White Hart Lane.

While Tottenham’s season collapsed towards the end, they still finished third and Lloris played a pivotal role in helping them become legitimate Premier League contenders.

Lloris has been linked with a move away from Tottenham for the last few summers, but with Champions League football secured, everything has been quiet in the current window, and it is apparent that the Frenchman has no intention of moving.

He admits that in the past he was not happy with what Tottenham were achieving as a team, but believes that Spurs, under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino, are on an exciting journey, where he is a crucial part of their plans.

On the lack of rumours surrounding his future this summer, Lloris told French sports daily L’Equipe: “Since I reached my goal with Tottenham during spring, I never asked [to leave].

“I knew that I would stay, and it’s a project which has really started with Pochettino.

"Yes, in the first two seasons, what I wanted collectively didn’t happen, but those difficulties helped me on my way.

“They saw that they could count on me, and the club are now on an exciting path.”

Lloris’ season didn’t start in the most auspicious of circumstances as he suffered a hamstring injury and was substituted before half-time in Tottenham’s first league game of the season at Everton.
