Napoli have made a move to thrash out a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Harry Kane – but the Premier League side will not play ball.

Last season's Serie A runners-up lost Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus earlier this summer after the Turin giants activated his €94m release clause.

Napoli did want to snap up Inter's Mauro Icardi as his replacement, however the Nerazzurri resisted and now the Argentine striker has penned a new contract at the San Siro.

A top class striker is still wanted by the Azzurri and, according to Sky Italia, they are keen on Kane.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis made contact with Spurs to ask about his side's chances of landing the England international this summer.

But his approach was rebuffed, as Spurs are not keen to sell Kane.

Spurs view Kane as a key man and central to their project, making taking him away from White Hart Lane a near enough impossible task for Napoli.

It remains to be seen whether the Azzurri will slap in a bid regardless, in an effort to try to tempt Spurs into doing business.
