Newcastle United are ready to offer an escape route to Marseille attacking midfielder Romain Alessandrini, who could quit the Stade Velodrome this summer.

Marseille have already offloaded a number of players, however they have also made additions, one notably being Florian Thauvin from Newcastle.

But they are still looking to ship some players out and Alessandrini is available for the right price.

And there is interest from Newcastle in the 27-year-old, with the Magpies having let Marseille know they will go up to €5m to land the attack-minded midfielder, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

Marseille are thought likely to be ready to accept the sum for Alessandrini, but the question mark lies over whether the player is prepared to drop into England's second tier.
