Bundesliga outfit Schalke have agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of midfielder Nabil Bentaleb on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been deemed surplus to requirements by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, and has been looking for a new club since last month.

He was offered to AC Milan, but the Serie A giants decided against snapping up the Belgian, but it seems the midfielder is on his way to Germany during the next few days.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Schalke reached an agreement with Tottenham last night for the signature of the defensive midfielder on a season-long loan.

The German outfit also reserve the option to making the move permanent based on Bentaleb’s performances at the Veltins-Arena this season.

The Belgian is expected to travel to Gelsenkirchen soon in order to undergo a medical and finalise the terms of his loan switch from Tottenham.

Spurs snapped up Bentaleb from French outfit Dunkerque in 2012, and after impressing for the club’s Under-21 side he broke into the first team in 2013.

However, he failed to make an impression under Pochettino, and is now on his way out of White Hart Lane.
