Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko is thrilled after his side managed to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League by edging out Hapoel Be'er Sheva 5-4 on aggregate.

The Scottish giants, who beat the Israeli outfit 5-2 at Paradise last week, booked their place to the group stage of the continental competition despite losing the return leg 2-0 last night.

Celtic, who have won the Scottish Premiership title for five straight seasons, have however endured difficulties in European competitions.

But the Hoops managed to qualify to the Champions League for the first time in three seasons after finally managing to cross the qualifiers hurdle.

And Sviatchenko, who joined Celtic from FC Midtjylland in January, was delighted to see his present employers make it to the group stages of the Champions League.

“That Champions League feeling when you wake up”, he tweeted, still delighted after the night before.

Sviatchenko, who has made just two appearances in the present campaign, is contracted with the Scottish champions until 2020.
