Chelsea have turned their attention towards West Ham linked defender Nikola Maksimovic after failing in their attempts to sign AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli.

After trying their luck with a number of defenders across Europe, Chelsea appeared to have zeroed in on Romagnoli as their primary target for the last week of the transfer window.

However, the Rossoneri have showed little enthusiasm for Chelsea’s recent bid worth €40m, and are soon expected to officially knock back the offer for Romagnoli.

And according to Gazzetta dello Sport, it seems Chelsea are ready to turn their attention towards Torino defender Maksimovic, who is widely believed to be on his way out of the club after falling out with Sinisa Mihajlovic.

However, Torino have slapped a €30m asking price on the Serbian, and have so far resisted Napoli’s attempts to snare Maksimovic from the San Paolo this summer.
