Manchester City are ready to send Eliaquim Mangala on a season-long loan deal, and are in talks with Napoli over his departure.

The French defender has found life under new manager Pep Guardiola hard, and is yet to feature in any of his matchday squads, which indicates that Mangala is not in the Spaniard’s plans.

Manchester City paid big money to sign the Frenchman from FC Porto in 2014, but Mangala has struggled to hold down a place in the starting eleven, and the club are ready to offload him this summer.

According to Tuttosport, Manchester City are preparing to loan him out this season, and are in conversations with Napoli over a deal that would see the 25-year-old move to Italy.

Napoli are in the market for defenders, and the Manchester City outcast has emerged as a target for the Serie A giants in the final week of the summer transfer window.

However, the San Paolo outfit are still deliberating over the move, and the final decision on Mangala will be taken by club supremo Aurelio De Laurentiis in the coming days.

With the prospect of spending a season on the sidelines, Mangala is also keen on a move, and is expected to be open to the idea of providing a fresh start to his career in Italy.

AC Milan and Valencia have also been linked with a move for the Frenchman, but Napoli appear to be in pole position at the moment.
