Napoli have rejected an attempt by Chelsea to snare full-back Faouzi Ghoulam away from the San Paolo this summer.

Antonio Conte is still in the market for defenders late in the window, and signing a full-back is believed to be one of the priorities for Chelsea in the final days of their transfer business.

Chelsea appear to have identified Napoli full-back Ghoulam as one of the targets, and it has been claimed that they contacted the Serie A giants through an intermediary regarding a deal for the Algerian.

However, according to Italian daily Tuttosport, Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli wasted little time in rejecting the overtures from Chelsea and made it clear that Ghoulam is not for sale.

Ghoulam has been a key player for Napoli since joining the club from Saint-Etienne in January 2014, and has notched up 99 appearances for the San Paolo outfit.

The defender has been previously linked with a move to England, and it seems Napoli are in no mood to lose Ghoulam any time soon despite interest from mega-rich Premier League clubs.

The 25-year-old has also been capped 26 times by Algeria in international football.
