Southampton are interested in signing long-term Liverpool target Caner Erkin from Inter Milan, according to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia.

The left-back, who joined Inter Milan from Fenerbahce on a free transfer in July, could move clubs again this summer.

Southampton are keeping close tabs on the situation and are keen to snap up the Turkey international before the closure of the transfer window.

Erkin, whose contract with Inter Milan runs until 2019, is also on the radar of La Liga outfit Real Betis.

The defender had been the subject of interest from Liverpool during his time at Fenerbhace, but Inter Milan were the ones who secured the signature of the 27-year-old.

Erkin has regularly been suggested as a Liverpool target and with the Reds also struggling in the left-back position, it remains to be seen whether they rekindle their interest in the Turk.

The defender, who counts Manisaspor, CSKA Moscow and Galatasaray amongst his former employers, also has 49 caps and two goals for Turkey to his name.
