Aston Villa supremo Dr Tony Xia has identified Sunday evening as the time when he will know the situation on the club's pursuit of an attacking midfielder and a striker.

The Villa Park outfit are in the process of rebuilding their squad following relegation from the Premier League last season, but time is running out with the transfer window due to close on Wednesday night.

There are also no emergency loans in the Championship this season, meaning the only way a side can bolster their squad after the window shuts is to sign a free agent.

Xia will be hoping it does not come to that and he is chasing an attacking midfielder and a striker hard.

And he feels he will know the situation regarding his club's pursuit by Sunday.

The Aston Villa supremo also denied having said that he had done a deal to sign a top class striker, explaining that landing the man whose goals could fire the club back up to the top flight is tough.

"I didn't say we done", Xia explained.
