Leeds United legend Eddie Gray feels a win at Nottingham Forest this weekend will fill Whites fans with hopes of a top six finish this season.

After a stuttering start to the season, Leeds have picked up momentum over the course of the last week or so, and got a morale boosting away win at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

With an EFL Cup last 32 appearance secured, and an important away win in their bag, Leeds are going into Saturday's trip to the City Ground with a spring in their step after a good week.

And Gray feels a win at Nottingham Forest would provide a huge surge of confidence to the club and supporters alike, and Leeds could get a vociferous crowd cheering them on when they return to play at Elland Road after the international break.

The Leeds legend told LUTV: “If we get a win at Nottingham Forest, everybody will be talking about top six, that’s how football is.

“To me, that’s what you want everybody talking about, want the fans to talk about it, you know why? Because when you go to Elland Road, they will get right behind the team in numbers.

“If we win at Forest, out supporters will think ‘this is the year’.”

Leeds got a point at the City Ground last season in the Championship, but a win on Saturday will take them ahead of Nottingham Forest in the league table.
