Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers thinks he made the right choice in picking Dorus de Vries between the sticks against Aberdeen in a 4-1 win for the Bhoys today, dropping regular number 1 Craig Gordon to the bench.

In front of a packed Celtic Park, Rodgers' men took the lead in the 13th minute through Leigh Griffiths, though Aberdeen hit back to level in the 32nd minute when Adam Rooney struck.

But Celtic would go in at half time in front and had James Forrest, with a neat finish in the 42nd minute, to thank.

The hosts had to wait until late in the game to make really sure of the three points though and they arrived when Mark Reynolds was sent off and Scott Sinclair scored from the penalty spot in the 87th minute, while Tom Rogic then curled in Celtic's fourth goal at the death.

Rodgers was keen to stress his delight with De Vries' performance after the match, indicating he is happy with his decision to put the Dutchman between the sticks and spelling trouble for Gordon.

"I do what I do every game. I pick what I think is the best team", he told his pre-match press conference, when asked about De Vries being picked.

"I thought Dorus came in and did very well.

"Overall, I thought he and the team were outstanding", Rodgers added.

The Celtic manager also praised Sinclair's lethal penalty and explained that he is spoiled for choice when it comes to picking who takes them.

"We are lucky. We have really good penalty takers. He took the penalties when we were at Swansea. He scored and that is all that matters."
