Arsenal great Robert Pires is confident that Thierry Henry will return to the Emirates Stadium as a coach in the future.

Former Everton boss Roberto Martinez pulled off a coup when he announced on Friday that Henry will be part of his backroom staff for the Belgium national team.

Henry relinquished his duties as coach of the Arsenal Under-18s earlier this year when he was asked to choose between his coaching career and his media commitments as a pundit for Sky.

Many feel the Frenchman could have easily continued in his dual role, but Pires is confident that his former Arsenal and France team-mate will be seen on the Gunners bench in the future.

The Frenchman has no doubt about Henry’s passion for football and coaching and believes he will eventually return to Arsenal as a coach at some point in his career.

When asked whether Henry has it in him to be a coach, Pires told L’Equipe: “It’s in his blood.

“He is passionate, and loves football like no one else, to the point where sometimes it feels crazy.”

On a return to Arsenal for Henry, the Frenchman said: “It is obvious.

“The fans are just waiting for that moment! I think one day we will find him on the Arsenal bench.”
