Bordeaux coach Jocelyn Gourvennec has not ruled out the possibility of signing Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli in the final week of the window.

The 26-year-old striker appears to have no future at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp, and he has been frozen out of the first team squad since returning to training in July.

While the top clubs have maintained their distance from the mercurial Italian, Balotelli is still attracting interest from mid-table sides across Europe, with a number of them holding talks with his agent Mino Raiola.

Balotelli has recently been linked with a move to Ligue 1, while Nantes have completely rubbished speculation of signing the striker, the Bordeaux coach indicated that a deal could be on the cards in the last few days of the transfer window.

On the rumours around Balotelli, Gourvennec told L’Equipe: “This is not news.

“We’ll see after Nantes [Sunday], there will be three full days [to assess] if necessary.”

Balotelli’s disastrous loan spell at AC Milan last season further damaged his reputation in Europe, and with just a few days left in the summer window, Raiola is scrambling to find a new club for the Liverpool outcast.
