New Crystal Palace signing Christian Benteke has revealed he has spoken to Wilfried Zaha in an effort to convince the winger to snub interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Mauricio Pochettino's men have made an offer for Zaha, although Palace have been firm in their view that the 23-year-old should stay put at Selhurst Park.

Benteke could benefit from Zaha's crosses if the winger does stay with Palace and the striker, who recently joined the London club from Liverpool, admits he has spoken to his new team-mate.

"Everyone knows his ability on the ball, he helped us a lot when he came in", the Belgian was quoted as saying by News Shopper.

"I spoke with him and I try to convince him to stay, but it’s football", Benteke added.

Zaha knows a move to Tottenham would mean Champions League football this season, and that too at the iconic Wembley.

However, Crystal Palace are keen not to sell the winger and could struggle to secure a replacement before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday night.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will try to force a rethink by slapping in a fresh, higher bid.
