Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips believes his team didn’t show enough attacking enterprise at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

After a good run of results, Leeds’ campaign received another blow at the City Ground as Forest ran out clear 3-1 winners against Garry Monk’s men in front of their home supporters.

Leeds’ defending from set-pieces, which led to two goals, has come in for some serious criticism, including from head coach Monk, but Phillips feels they also didn’t do enough at the other end.

The midfielder believes Leeds are still struggling to create chances inside the final third, and has conceded that they will still require some time to gel into a more solid unit going forward.

On the improvements needed, Phillips told BBC Radio Leeds: “I think we still need to do a little bit more going forward.

“I don’t think we are creating enough chances; one of my free-kicks was one of the first proper shots on goal.”

On why they are struggling in the final third, he said: “I don’t know, maybe because we are new, and are still bonding.”

Leeds will be hoping to put in a much improved performance after the international break when they host Huddersfield Town in a Yorkshire derby at Elland Road on 10th September.
