Leeds United's chances of a late loan swoop for Ashley Fletcher appear to be over after the striker was handed his full debut by West Ham United away against Manchester City today.

The Yorkshire giants have been chasing Fletcher for the entire summer and wanted to offer him a home at Elland Road when he rejected a new contract at Manchester United – but he chose a switch to West Ham.

Recently, Leeds have been hoping to sign Fletcher on a season-long loan deal, but today's development signals that Hammers boss Slaven Bilic considers the striker a solid first team member.

Fletcher has made his full debut at the Etihad Stadium, hot on the heels of being brought off the bench in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Leeds boss Garry Monk is aiming to bring in a new striker before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday night.
