Aston Villa are continuing talks with Hull City in a bid to sign striker Abel Hernandez.

The former Palermo man is Villa's top striking target this summer, but they are running out of time to land the 26-year-old, with the transfer window due to close on Wednesday night.

According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Aston Villa are continuing talks with Hull as they desperately try to push a deal over the line for the Uruguayan.

Hernandez's goals helped to power Hull to promotion from the Championship last season – and Villa are keen for him to repeat the trick at Villa Park.

Hull have been mooted to be looking for around £20m in order to part with Hernandez, who cost £10m to sign from Palermo in 2014.
