Juventus are close to securing a loan deal for Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado, according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport.

The Colombia international, who joined Chelsea from Fiorentina in January 2015, has failed to make his mark at Stamford Bridge and was sent on a season-long loan deal to Juventus last term.

Although Cuadrado returned to Chelsea at the start of the season, the 28-year-old is yet to make any appearances in the present campaign and he has made it clear time and again that he wishes to join Juventus again.

The Italian champions are also prepared to pay Cuadrado’s €2.5m loan fee, but Chelsea were holding out for an obligatory purchase option.

However, it seems a deal is now close as a compromise has been worked out after talks between the clubs yesterday.

Juventus are ready to accept the obligatory purchase option, but only after the Colombian makes a certain number of appearances this season.

Cuadrado, whose present contract with Chelsea runs until 2019, scored five times and set up eight goals in 40 games for Juventus last term.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte remains reluctant to lose the player, but it seems Cuadrado's insistence on joining Juventus is tilting the scales towards his departure.
