Nice are back in the chase for Mario Balotelli after fresh contacts with the Liverpool flop’s representatives.

The Italian striker joined Liverpool from AC Milan in 2014, but was shipped off to the Italian giants on a loan deal last summer after failing to make his mark at Anfield.

Balotelli managed just four goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for the Reds before enduring a similar disappointing loan spell at AC Milan where he scored just three times in 23 games.

The 26-year-old, who is deemed surplus to requirements by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, has been heavily linked with leaving the Merseyside giants this season.

Nice showed interest in roping in the forward earlier in the summer, with Bordeaux, Bologna and Wolverhampton Wanderers also being in the fray.

But Palermo recently joined the chase for Balotelli, who looked more likely to join them after the club’s owner Maurizio Zamparini and manager Davide Ballardini made their interest public.

However, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Nice are back in the hunt for the former Manchester City man and are also offering a more lucrative contract than the Serie A outfit.

Balotelli, whose present contract with Liverpool runs until 2018, has 33 caps and 13 goals for Italy to his name.
