AC Milan have contacted Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in an audacious attempt to take the Spaniard to the San Siro on deadline day.

After being a regular fixture of the Chelsea team over the last two seasons, the Spaniard has struggled to get into the eleven under Antonio Conte, and has just a 12-minute cameo as a substitute in the first month of the Premier League campaign.

There has been speculation that the midfielder could opt for a move away from Chelsea towards the end of the transfer window, but Fabregas recently stressed that he will continue at Stamford Bridge.

However, that hasn’t deterred AC Milan from making a move for the midfielder, and according to Sky Italia, the Rossoneri have established contact with the player’s representatives over a move to Italy.

The midfielder has emerged as a target for the Milanese giants in recent hours, as they look to bring a top quality central midfielder on the last day of the transfer window.

However, nothing concrete has emerged from the discussions yet, and there is an understanding that AC Milan could struggle to match his current salary of €8m per season.

It also remains to be seen whether Chelsea agree to let a footballer of Fabregas’ quality leave the club on the last day of the window, especially with the Blues struggling to sign players themselves.
