Adama Traore is set to leave Aston Villa for Premier League new boys Middlesbrough, with Albert Adomah going the other way, according to the Press Association.

Former Barcelona winger Traore made clear to Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo earlier this summer that he wanted to quit Villa Park.

Now he is poised to step up from the Championship and into the Premier League by joining Middlesbrough.

And heading the other way will be Adomah, although the deals are not linked to each other, even though the respective departures opened up holes which need to be filled.

Winger Adomah was snapped up by Middlesbrough from Bristol City in 2013 and the Ghana international helped Boro earn promotion from the Championship to the Premier League last season.

Indeed, Adomah will bring significant Championship experience to Aston Villa, having played in England's second tier for the previous six seasons.

Boro meanwhile will be hoping that Traore can turn on the style in the Premier League.
