Adrien Silva's proposed switch from Sporting Lisbon to Leicester City is off, according to French radio station RMC.

It had been claimed that the Premier League champions had met Silva's release clause in his contract at Sporting Lisbon, leaving the Portuguese giants powerless to resist his departure.

Leicester are wrapping up the signing of Silva's team-mate Islam Slimani and it was suggested the Portugal international was set to follow in his footsteps to the King Power Stadium.

However, Silva's proposed switch to Leicester is now off, with no indication as to why.

Silva was born in France and spent time in the youth ranks at Bordeaux before heading to continue his footballing education at Sporting Lisbon.
