Tottenham Hotspur have beaten off interest from Everton to sign Moussa Sissoko, according to French radio station RMC.

Spurs lodged a bid for Sissoko earlier today which came nowhere near to Newcastle United's £30m asking price for the France international.

They nudged up to £25m later in the day, but when Everton came in with a £30m offer and Newcastle agreed, it appeared Sissoko was going to Goodison Park.

But late in the window, Spurs matched Everton's £30m bid.

And it has now been claimed that Sissoko is now going to Spurs on a five-year contract.

Spurs can offer Sissoko the chance to play in the Champions League this season, something Everton cannot match.

The midfielder was in fine form for France during Euro 2016 earlier this summer and made clear his intention to leave Newcastle following their relegation from the Premier League last term.

Now he seems set for a switch to the capital with Tottenham.
