Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is closing in on a move to Bournemouth after talks between the Gunners and Roma broke down earlier this afternoon.

Wilshere has been given permission to leave Arsenal on loan to pursue more first team football this season, and had a number of clubs on his trail.

The England midfielder spoke to Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew and Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe yesterday over a move to their respective clubs.

And it seemed that the Premier League clubs were being left behind in the chase after Roma started to throw their weight around earlier today, even agreeing terms with the player's representatives.

However, talks between Arsenal and the Serie A giants broke down earlier this afternoon, and according to the BBC, Bournemouth are about to land the midfielder on loan.

Crystal Palace are also under the impression that the chase has been decided in favour of the Cherries, and are now looking at other options in the final few hours of the market.

The 24-year-old will be looking to prove himself again at the Vitality this season after seeing his stock fall rapidly at Arsenal over the course of the summer.
