Chelsea have officially announced the signing of David Luiz from French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Luiz has returned to the club he left in 2014 for a fee of £50m and has cost Chelsea £30m to bring back to Stamford Bridge.

The Brazil international defender has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Chelsea to keep him at the club until the summer of 2019.

Luiz is delighted to have returned to the side he first joined in 2011 from Portuguese giants Benfica and is focused on bringing success to Chelsea.

"I'm delighted to return to Chelsea", he told the club's official site.

"We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success", Luiz continued.

"I always had a wonderful relationship with the fans and I am looking forward to wearing the blue shirt at Stamford Bridge once again."

Chelsea had been searching for another centre-back throughout the transfer window, but saw bids for various targets rebuffed, something which saw their attention turned to Luiz.

The defender now returns to his former club, where he is a firm fan favourite, and will be relishing the chance to help the Blues recover from a disappointing 2015/16 campaign which saw European football missed out on.
